Asking “which” with “nào”

In Vietnamese, nào is used to express “which”.

Vietnamese is a wh-in-situ language, which means, in Vietnamese, the question words aren’t moved to the beginning of sentences, but rather stay in their original positions.

Structure

When combining with a noun and/or a measure word, place nào after them.

noun + nào

measure word + nào

measure word + noun + nào

Examples

  • Anh chọn cái nào?Which one do you choose?
  • Con nào nặng nhất?Which one (animal) is the heaviest?
  • Chúng ta nên học ngôn ngữ nào?Which language should we learn?
