Expressing “every” with “mọi”

In Vietnamese, we use mọi to express “every”.

Structure

Place mọi before the measure word of a noun to express “every”.

mọi + measure word + noun

When the noun is understood from context, it’s acceptable to drop it.

mọi + measure word

If the noun doesn’t have a measure word, place mọi before the noun.

mọi + noun

Examples

Although mọi means “every”, sometimes it corresponds to “all” in English.

  • mọi người
    everyone
  • mọi thứ
    everything
  • mọi nơi
    everywhere
  • mọi ngày
    everyday, usual
  • mọi thành viên
    every member
  • Mọi con đường đều dẫn đến La Mã.
    All roads lead to Rome.
